Cat, horse and more. At home Beau drinks milk, purrs and pushes his head against your legs. Outside he boomingly galops the bridle-paths. Snorts like a bull and jumps fences with a deerlike elegance. Beau borrows right and left from different animals. But foremost he is a big dog. In his dog world he behaves self-assured and likes to boss around while being with his mates. Communicating flawlessly he uses the tips of his ears and the muscles of his hairs up to his big wobbly toes: the whole of his body joins in when he is in the company of fellow dogs. 

After four years of living with us Beau also acquired himself a favourable position in his human household. Being the family friend, play mate, cuddly bear and sometimes problem child of two and a half persons, Beau receives a lot of attention, time and space. While living with his humans he has acquired the skill to react adequatly to words and sentences alike, and knows how to clearly communicate his messages with body and limbs: shoving, gripping, whimpering (seldomly barking), pointing (with head or body) and drumming (with his paws).

And most of his messages come through to his humans who are fascinated by Beau. By his appearance. His unruly affection. And mostly by the intens interaction and strong bond we developed with Beau and vice versa. Opportunism? True love? The dog human relationship feels as a very solid and special one in any case.

This weblog developped out of the idea to really get to know Beau better by observing him. During the about 150 weeks following the coming three years this site will present short films of Beau in different moments of his life. Active and exhilarating ones or in sleepy and relaxed moods in and around his city home in Amsterdam.
